"Lent is a time for renewal, prayer, and faith as we prepare our hearts for the season ahead."

The halls of ESMV echoed with a sense of quiet reverence this past Wednesday as our school community gathered to mark the beginning of Lent. The Ash Wednesday service, a cornerstone of our spiritual life, brought together students, faculty, and staff in a collective moment of reflection and prayer. As the first day of the forty-day Lenten journey, it serves as a powerful reminder of our commitment to growth, repentance, and renewal.

The ceremony was centered around the imposition of ashes, a symbolic gesture dating back centuries. Each participant stepped forward to receive the mark of the cross on their forehead, accompanied by the traditional words reminding us of our shared humanity and the call to return to our faith with renewed vigor. The atmosphere was one of deep solemnity, providing a rare opportunity for students to pause amidst their busy academic schedules and focus on their inner spiritual paths.

Throughout the service, themes of faith and reflection were woven into the readings and hymns. Student leaders led the congregation in prayers for peace, wisdom, and the strength to live out the values of our school mission during this holy season. The service concluded with an invitation to all members of the ESMV family to embrace the three pillars of Lent: prayer, fasting, and almsgiving, as we journey together toward the celebration of Easter.
